NISGA® - Non Iron Self-diverting Gelled Acid

Typical Properties and Field Applications

NISGA technology was commercialized in 2025 successfully and has been applied in various oil and gas fields in the world. It has been proved to be effective in treatment of carbonate reservoirs with the following conditions:

Temperature:
BHST 60‑275°F (15‑135°C)
Formation:
Carbonates with variation in petro‑physical properties
Treatment fluids:
HCl, self‑diverting gelled acids
Mix‑water:
Fresh water
Further information about field applications is described in documented “Case History of NISGA Technology”.

Precautions and HSE Considerations

Acid gelling agent KMA051, crosslinker KMA049, iron control agent KMA053 and gelled acid breaker KMA052 in NISGA systems play the most important roles in fluid and treatment design. In addition, corrosion inhibitor KMA054 and KMA034C and corrosion inhibitor KMA031 should be used in NISGA systems to protect the tubing from corrosion. H2S scavenger KMA009B are compatible with other system additives if they are required in NISGA design.

The laboratory procedures, quality assurance program and guidelines for field mixing and handling of NISGA systems are described in NISGA fluid manual.
