OPTiWash® - Chemical Wash and Spacer for Oil-Based Muds

Typical Properties and Field Applications

OPTiWash technology was commercialized in 2013 successfully and has been applied in various oil and gas fields in the world. It has been proved to be effective in cementing oil or gas wells with the following conditions and properties:

Temperature:
BHST 140-320 (60-160℃)
Chemical wash density:
8.30 ppg to 8.75 ppg (1.00 – 1.05 g/cm3)
Mix-water:
Fresh water, brines (up to 18%)
Wetting reversal:
≤50% (adjustable)

Further information about field jobs is described in documented “Case History of OPTiWash Technology”.

Typical phase-reversal property of OPTiWash in oil-based muds is shown in the following Figure.

Precautions and HSE Considerations

Surfactant (KCM035) and phase reversible agent (KCM036) play the most important role in cementing oilwells drilled with oil-based muds. The synergistic effect between KCM035 and KCM036 removes OBM efficiently and alter the interface wettability behavior between casing, cement and formation. Defoamer (KCM043), suspending agent and weighing agents are compatible with KCM035 and KCM036 and often used in OPTiWash systems for cementing various oilwells.

The laboratory procedures, quality assurance program and guidelines for field mixing and handling of OPTiWash systems are described in OPTiWash fluid manual.
