DPA ® - Deep Penetration Acids

Typical Properties and Field Applications

DPA technology was commercialized successfully in 2012 and has been applied in various oil and gas fields in the world. It has been proved to be effective in treatment of the sandstone formations with the following conditions:

Temperature:
BHST 60-350℉ (15-177℃)
Formation:
Sandstone with clays higher than 15%, especially sensitive clays
Treatment fluids:
Sandstone acidizing fluids
Mix-water:
Fresh water

Further information about field applications is described in documented “Case History of DPA Technology”.

Precautions and HSE Considerations

DPA Additive  I (KMA008), DPA Additive II (KMA011) and DPA Additive III (KMA012) in DPA systems play the most important role in effective treatment of sensitive sandstones. In addition, corrosion inhibitor (KMA044) and inhibitor aid (KMA030) are generally used in DPA systems to protect the tubing from corrosion. The iron reducing agent (KMA003) and iron stabilizer (KMA003B and KMA033) are generally used in DPA systems to prevent the iron precipitation in the formation. H2S scavenger (KMA009) and H2S scavenger Aid (KMA009B) are compatible with other additives in DPA systems.

The laboratory procedures, quality assurance program and guidelines for field mixing and handling of DPA systems are described in DPA fluid manual.
